4/14/2016 DB's Dailies: Nani,Kainoa,RG32&U/F@Rabbit Island, Pohaku@CIP, Kaiwi@Reef Runway,RK36,RIP&Kekoa@Maili Pt, Benny@Keaau's, Sadie@Chinaman's Hat, 4-14-16, Y/N, RI@Molokai, Diane P.,4-10-16, R8HY@Mokuleia, Lesley

At 0640, on my first look at Rabbit Island, I found Nani (RK60) snoozin’ in the Morning Glory, 30 ft right of 3BS. ID was by her left side N50 bleach.

60 ft right of 3BS, also in the Morning Glory, I found Kainoa (RN04), and an U/F, with a newish coat & 2 red tags. Once again I could find no markers to allow an ID.

At 0837 little RG32 hauled out fronting 60 ft right of 3BS. He galumphed up to the Morning Glory to join the other. All would move down mid morning, and all remained in a little group for the observation period.

At 0723 Team Billand reported a foraging Pohaku (RO28) off shore of Germaine’s at CIP.

At 1027 the Billands reported a foraging animal off shore of the Reef Runway. They thought Kaiwi was a possibility. Awaiting photos.

At 1400 they found RK36, RIP &Kekoa@ Maili Point.

At 1502 a Dana text advised of Benny (ID by tag) in the Makua area. It took some searching but the Billands finally found Benny at Keaau’s.

The Billands called with a WP lifeguard report of a new arrival at the 3rd cottage. LG’s were cordoning it off, as the Billands respond from Makua. At 1636 a Dana text advised that volunteer Ralph Ragosta had confirmed the Buster (RV08) ID at White Plains ! Ralph’s photo confirms the Buster ID.

The highlight of the day for me, came in the afternoon with a Hotline report , providing photos from Twogood Kayaks, of Sadie (RB12) on Chinaman’s Hat. ID was by her right side N16 bleach, and tag. Both she and RIP were not a RI today. Now I know why.

Speaking of RIP, in the Y/N department, Diane Pike on Molokai provided shots of RIP (RR70) over there on 4-10-16. Just to give some sense of the range of these animals, he was last reported on 4-2-16 by the Billands at Maili Pt. He was then confirmed on Molokai on the 10th. On the 11th & 13th he was attending Sadie on Rabbit Island. Today she is at Chinaman’s Hat, and he is back at Maili Pt. Amazing !!!

lso in the Yesterday’s News department, Lesley advised the she found R8HY at Mokuleia Beach Park late yesterday. He was gone this morning.
