4/1/2016 DB's Dailies: 2 U/U@Rabbit Island, Kolohe&Kekoa@CIP&Maili Pt, Pohaku@Maili Beach Park, Roclky@Diamond Head, Benny@Waikiki, U/U@Shark's Cove, Holokai@Turtle Bay

The conditions were okay for Rabbit Island observations, however the two flippered residents were total uncooperative. There was a probable juvenile hidden down in Seal Rock Inlet, that in all probability was RG32 based on recent history, along size & color, but as you can see from the photo, making an ID call was impossible. The same is true of the probable adult sized animal behind the rocks of Rocky Right Beach. Same problem. I simply gave got enough to go on.

Both Gayle and I did checks of the SE Quadrant, and came up with zero.

At 0749 the Billands reported two foragers that they believed to be Kekoa & Kolohe . Later , at 1214 they again saw two foragers, off Maili Pt, who would later depart.

At 0915 an Ocean Safety call reported an animal at Maili Beach Park. They Billands confirmed the Pohaku (RO28) ID at 0959. She would depart at 1544.

At 1246 Kekoa (RK72) hauled out to Guard Rails. He would depart that locations and hauled out again to Maili Pt. , where Tracy gave him his booster shot.

At 1517 a Dana email advised that Colleen was responding to the report of an animal at Diamond Head. At 1606 the Rocky (RH58) ID was confirmed.

In that same email Dana also reported an U/U at the Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki. Instagram photos indicate that it is Benny (RE74). New volunteer Matthew C is responding(1753).

1606 DanaMail brought word of and U/U at Shark’s Cove. Ella’s photos was inconclusive.

Dana also reported an U/U in Laie. Don Porter is responding. Awaiting further info. Dana also advised in the same mail that Holokai (RG40) was at Turtle Bay.

Late email from Diane G., advised that she had found Holokai (RG40) at the Elbow at 1350.

In the Yesterday’s News department Carola Johnston’s shots from yesterday at Turtle Bay, documented BG (R303) and Holokai (RG40) at TB.
