9/16/2014 DB's Dailies:Kaiwi,Kekoa,Kainoa,Nani&Aukai@RI, Kea@SB, T990&T21M@DH, Buster@NIM, Pohaku@Nanakuli, Kolohe@GR, Nihoa@Keaau's

On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0659, I found Kaiwi (RK96) at 3BS, and Kekoa (RK72) at Seal Rock Inlet.

When I got back to Makai Pier at 0914, I noted that Kekoa was gone, however at 0922 he hauled out to join Kaiwi. They would both enter the water at 0927. I did not see them again today.

Also at 0914 I found Nani (RK60)(70% molted), and Kainoa (RN04) just hauling out together to the left end of the beach. Kainoa would depart at 0956. At 1013 a 100% molted Aukai (RL12) hauled out to join Nani. They remained there together the rest of the day.

At 1444 Ocean Safety called with the report of an animal just hauling out to the east end of Sandy Beach. I was just down at Crappy Cove with a couple of Honolulu Magazine guys so we were there in 2 minutes. It would prove to be Kea (RN04). The magazine guys were stoked and shot the arrival, and the setting up of the SPZ. Kea remained at dark.

Diane Gabriel (Hotline) called at 0815 with a report of “4DV”, T990 at the Black Point end of Diamond Head. Colleen responded and confirmed the T990 ID. Posse member Christian Young also checked in on him. Colleen advised he was still there this afternoon, and had changed positions.

Colleen wins the Turkey today ! She called at 1810 to advise that she had just discovered T21M on the beach, behind her house !!! She advised that both the old dudes were still there at dark.

At 1049 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at Depots Beach, Nanakuli. Dana advised that Pohaku had departed at 1600.

The Billands advised that Buster (RV08) had hauled out to White Plains at 1120, but would depart at 1215 , beginning a swim to the west, stopping at Kalaeloa CG, Wind Sock and finally Nimitz Cottages at 1223. He would depart at 1240.

At 1421 the Billands found Kolohe (RW22) at Guard Rails. Dana advised that Kolohe was gone at 1815. At 1618 he reported a 99% molted Nihoa (R912) at Keaau’s .

Val Bloy sent shots from Kauai yesterday showing a molting KC (RK28), & RF28 (Pohaku’s boy), and RF58 (Rocky’s girl). Thank You Val!

I just read about the man that was charged with a felony for harassing a monk seal. It happened on Oahu and he didn't have 15,000 for bail.
Maybe this will help put the word out.
GO MONK SEALS!!!!
