8/23/2014 DB's Dailies: Buster@BH, Kolohe,Kainoa,RK36&Aukai@RI, M&M@WP, Pohaku@Maili, Rocky@EB, Luana@Mokuleia, Ka'ena,RW02& RL42, RF58@Kaua

NOAA employee, Stacie Robinson joined me on the quest today. I was on it a bit before her arrival. I found Buster (RV08) doing 8 minute dives. I last saw him at 0757 as he swam out and the west.  At 1100 we checked T990 at AD and found that he had departed.

At 1132 we initially found Kolohe (RW22)& Kainoa (RN04) at the left end of the beach on Rabbit Island.

At 1200 they would be joined by RK36. Kolohe took off, but stayed in the area, and was run off 2 additional times as a result. RK36 chased after him in the water on one attempt, and minutes later hauled out in the company of Aukai (RL12).

At 0905 Team Billand reported M&M (R020) foraging off shore of White Plains. She did not haul out.

Also at 0905 the Billands advised that they’d gotten a report of a probable Pohaku at Maili. At 1236 the confirmed the Pohaku (RO28) ID. At 1014 the found Rocky (RH58) at Ewa Beach.

Marilyn & Lesley did the trek to the end of the world today. They reported Luana (RN58) at the Mokuleia birth beach both on the way out and the way back. Diane T would call at 1609, also reporting Luana at the same location. At the point they had lots of action with Ka’ena (RO40) and RW02 vying for the attention of the lovely RL42, at Ka’ena’s Pool.

Gary Langley sent photos of Rocky’s little girl (RF58) on Kauai. The shots provide the best look yet of the weaner’s dog bite scars. He said she appears to be doing fine.

Team Billand got word of an animal hauling to the Surf Shack at WP at 1743. They confirmed the M&M (R020) ID at 1614. Once again it will be a late night for them. Check the blog for their day.

I forgot to add a paragraph to the dailies. Gayle called to advise that Kaiwi (RK96) was at China Walls. Stacie & I had been there earlier and elected not venture down on the rock flats because the crashing waves were just toooooo sketchy. Gayle is a veteran, and advised that she was going to try for a shot. Gayle called a tad later to advise that she had been swept off the rock flats earning some dings and nicks, and destroying her brand new camera. She is a little sore but rarin' to go. Obviously there is no Kaiwi shot.  GAYLE!!!! what are you thinking?  Geesh don't be giving us a heart attack.

Rocky's little girl RF58 - to be honest I am happy to see she is fat and healthy... but it breaks my heart seeing the scars... that whole scenario is just so upsetting.  Glad you are back Gary....
