7-24-2014 DB's Dailies: Kainoa@RI, Buster@BH&SB, Kaiwi@BF, RIP,M&M@WP, Kekoa@RR, Benny&Pohaku@Makaha, Nihoa@GR, RL42@Makua Cliffs

On my 2nd look at Rabbit Island I found Kainoa (RN04) just arriving to the far left end of the beach. Through multiple rechecks of RI, he was the only resident. On the way back from an airport run at 1255 we found an animal foraging at Blowhole. Buster was my guess, but ??? I returned at 1418 and the critter was still there, doing 6 minute dives. At 1457 the animal began moving toward Sandy Beach, and at 1500 I observed the animal beginning to haul out to the Blowhole end of SB, so I relocated to SB and humped the stuff to the location . Unfortunately, when I arrived the animal was not there. I waited a while and then checked the east end of SB (zero) and then back to Blowhole to get an overall view of Sandy Beach. Alas , I did not see the animal again. There is zero doubt in my mind that it was Buster but ????

 At 1305 we found Kaiwi (RK96) at Buster Flats, Lanai Lookout.

 At 0700 Team Billand reported RIP (RR70) & M&M (R020) fronting #1707 White Plains.

 At 1032 they called with the report of Kekoa (RK72) at the Reef Runway. A larger “swimming head” was observed, off shore but ????

 Team Billand called at 1213 to advise that 2 animals had been reported at Makaha Beach. They advised that Debbie was responding. At 1428 the highlight of the day came with the confirmation of the Benny (RE74) & Pohaku (RO28) ID. Since the shark incident a few days ago, we’ve been concerned about these two, but today’s sighting is of great comfort. They departed at 1800.  That's a big WHEW!!!

 At 1530 the Billands reported RL42 at Makua Cliffs. Speaking of RL42, today she turns 2 years old !!!

 At 1628 Team Billand found Nihoa (R912) at Maili Guard Rails.
